Wow! Where do I even begin? Being in Ghana was so surreal and even now I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I’ve just done my first mission trip. I sought the Lord’s will about going on a mission trip and after praying for a year, I decided to do it. I also prayed about which country I should go to and the Lord gave me a vision of Africa and I had peace.

Throughout my 9 days at City of Refuge Ministry, I got to interact with the children there and had the privilege of hearing their testimonies. It was so heartbreaking to hear the pain and suffering that they’ve went through. Despite their past, they still have joy and seeing that encouraged me to not let anything steal my mine. These children are so sweet and precious!

Can I just say that the staff is pretty awesome too?! They are so passionate about making a positive impact on these children’s and living out the call of the Lord on their lives. Such an amazing group of Godly men and women.

Furthermore, one way that the Lord worked on me was having me let go of my “schedules.” I’m a planner and like to know what’s next so not having a set schedule on this trip made me nervous. But the Lord quickly put it on my heart to let Him lead because if not, I would have missed out on experiencing Him in ways that would strengthen my relationship with Him. When I gave up control, everything flowed and I don’t know how to describe it but when we operate on the Lord’s timing there is peace.

Looking back, I can see how the Lord has orchestrated my steps to Ghana. Even in the midst of fears and doubts, He was so faithful to comfort and assure me of His guidance and love. He’s blessed me with this experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life and I am honored that He chose me to be His hands and feet.
